Is it possible to not exercise enough?
There are a lot of claims going around about the “required” amount of exercise you should be doing each week. Some experts swear by three times per week, some by five, and some by six! The information can make it confusing to know if you are working out enough each week, and can leave you wondering how frequently you should be getting your sweat on!
Honestly, it truly is up to you. I would recommend looking first at your schedule, thinking about your current commitments, and work obligations, and go from there. If you can’t fit in working out six times per week, then don’t set yourself up for failure. It’s ok to commit to working out three days a week – it is still so much better than not doing nothing!
There is a stigma that is starting to form around fitness and working out, that you either “go all in” or not at all. This is very counterproductive. The truth is, exercising however much you can fit into each week, is better than not moving a muscle! So it isn’t possible to not exercise enough in my opinion, even one good sweat during the week is better than nothing. Aim for three times per week if you can manage it. Or if you’re just starting out and are worried you can’t commit to it, then start with one to two workouts per week. Do whatever you can to get your body moving and pumping up a sweat! It also helps with a kick ass motivating group like ours!!!
What’s your opinion on this? Do you think it’s possible to not exercise enough? Or do you feel as I do, that it’s best to do what works for you and your lifestyle? Let me know in the comments below!
